Daily Confessional: Call me an overachiever, but I’ve go this Try January thing down! Not only regarding wine, but this small town Missouri girl has been trying things I’ve never even heard of this past week. Jury is still out on a few of them, but let me go into a bit more detail.
I have a group of girlfriends and we get together every few months for girl’s weekends. Prior to kicking them off, we start a list of all the topics we need to cover which mostly center around health, beauty, food, travel and other areas of interest. We’ve pierced our ears together and contemplated tattoos although that hasn’t happened yet. Most of the time we totally forget what we had on the list to discuss, but plenty of topics fill the gap morning, noon, afternoon, evening and night!
As a result of our January weekend, two major experiences transpired. First, ionic foot baths – who knew there was such a thing! 45 minutes of hot water and some mad scientist equipment and all the toxins in our bodies were floating or sinking in the tub. Gross, but I’m totally into it now – obviously my liver is more experienced processing wine than some of the other junk expelled during this experience!
Second new experience – acupuncture. Yes, you heard me correctly! I’ve committed to subject myself to needles in my face, ears (with no earring resulting from these punctures), hands, legs, and feet for 12 weeks to see how it works. Won’t go into details yet, but hey, it’s an ancient treatment so I at least trust it’s longevity to mean it has some benefit!
Third, now we’re back to WINE! And a fantastic flight of Robert Foley Vineyards wine to be exact! Local restaurant gem, Ellerbe’s, hosted a wine dinner last week but travel conflicts prevented my husband and I from attending. Never fear! They were nice enough to follow the dinner with wine tastings this week and yes, I tried, and adored every one of them. From bracingly acidic and fresh Chard to obscure Charbono to jammy Merlot. They rocked! And several found their way into my cellar. How the heck did that happen!
I’m making the most of Dry January – comment below with how you’ve been spending the month!
