One day I was walking through a forest and surprise! I found a vineyard!

Join Liz Mears, owner of The Holly, a natural wine shop and bar in Ft. Worth, TX for W.O.W. #1! Take a journey into a natural park in Spain near the Mediterranean Coast where winemaker Anna Espelt (Cap de Creus / Pla de Gates) stumbled across a rare find – a wild vineyard! Fast forward and spend a few minutes with us taking a deep dive into this luscious wine!

Pla De Gates Blanc 2020
Garnatxa Blanca (Grenache Blanc) = 80%
Garnatxa Gris (Grenache Gris) = 20%
ABV 13%

Aromas: Salty sea mixes with meyer lemon and ripe nectarines, blood oranges
Flavor: Ripe citrus fruits are fresh and crisp yet soft – meyer lemon versus grocery store lemons. Ripe nectarines in their peak of juiciness. Blood oranges add to a richer flavor but still quite dry, extremely bright with high tart acid. Just a smile in the bottle!
Winemaking: Fermented in fiberglass tea tubs (reminds me of hot tubs without the jets!) followed by 6-9 months in large concrete eggs which allow a tiny bit of exposure to oxygen which softens the wine and brings all of the flavors and aromas together for a fantastic experience. No added yeast or any other influences for a truly natural wine making process.
Vineyard: Wild vines grown in a national park in Spain with minimal vine intervention and absolutely no chemicals, fertilizers, or irrigation.
Price point: upper-30s

Notes: This small batch wine is well worth seeking out at your local natural wine focused wine shop or online if you can find it! Picnic on the Mediterranean coast soaking in the sunshine and beauty in the bottle!
