A few great wines shared with smiling faces, zodiac signs and exploring new places.

Daily Confessional: Mother Nature may have taken a toll on Texas this past week, but there was no way I was letting her take away all of my fun! Texas can deliver blistering heat one week followed by bone chilling freezes and a layer of ice the next. The latter brings the entire city to a stand still. Bring it, I say! My wine refrigerators are full and there’s a fire in the fireplace. Funkytown residents don’t sit still for long and within hours of the sun reappearing, cabin fever (yes, an intense 24 hours of it!) had us all out and making the most of the weekend.

While the last weekend of the legendary Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo coupled with

TCU sports events made for fun with friends and new faces, Aquarius rising brought the opportunity to continue celebrating Lunar New Year and seek out some new places around town. I confess I am the worst calendar keeper ever in the world of ever. I try every year, but within weeks, I’ve lost the little beauty I spent hours shopping for and am back to ground zero. Why am I talking about calendars, good point. I use mine to plan date nights and outings to prevent us from doing the same thing over and over or eating at the same places week in and week out! Thank goodness for some fantastic local magazines highlighting new restaurants, stores and events which inspire me to find my long lost calendar friend and fill her up with jaunts about town.

This week, we discovered a new restaurant (ate there twice, yep, pretty darned good!) and a new natural wine shop in the hip South Main neighborhood. I’m not giving away any details yet as the owner and I have a plan which I’ll soon reveal – I’m so excited I really want to just blurt it out, but thankfully, the delete button on my keyboard is keeping me true to my promise. As the sun sets on a really fun weekend, I’d love to hear from you – any new places I should try? Any new wines I need to hunt down? Any new friends reading this blog I need to meet? Let me know!
