I Left My Heart in Texas

As the song goes, I left my heart in Texas, but I’m taking their wine with me! Texas wine? Yes, silly! Obviously you haven’t been keeping up with my adventures if you even have to ask that question (check out Deep in the heart of Texas! Take a quick journey back in time to last September. Taking advantage of a much needed long weekend, my husband and I ventured to the Texas Hill Country with our dogs in tow and set out to explore as many Texas wines as legally possible. Little did I know, Texas Wine Club would change the game.

Fate must have been in the stars that weekend as our tasting guide at Alexander Vineyards, Clay Roup, and i hit it off immediately over our passion for all things wine, wine education and Texas Wine (although Alexander Vineyards brings amazing European imports to the Hill Country giving visitors a great comparative of Old World in the heart of New World vineyards). Over a few glasses – or bottles, but who was counting – Clay insists I must meet one of his fellow wine lovers, Kambrah Garland. Well of course I love meeting any kindred wine-spirit!

Kambrah and I met the next day at Adego Vinho winery and our conversation transpired into “the rest of the story.” Clay and Kambrah are the masterminds behind Texas Wine Club, a non-traditional wine club curating amazing Texas wines for club members from small wineries likely unknown by most members or wine drinkers for that matter. Count. Me. In.

Texas Wine Club takes a roadtrip

Fast forward to last weekend and change the scene to Fort Worth, TX. Clay and his fiancé, Steffanie took a road trip north so Clay could partner (ok he basically led the whole thing!) with me on a wine tasting comparing Texas wine to it’s Old World cousins. Whenever a wine tasting opportunities pops up, of course I lure my Tuesday Sommelier Study Group girlfriends to the event. This time we eve let spouses join – we’re really forward thinking I know!

Lessons were learned, questions were asked, wines were tasted and fun was had by all. And most importantly, everyone walked away with a whole new impression of Texas Wine! Not to sound cliche, but “we’ve come a long way baby!” Texas wines, that is. I’m super excited to be part of Texas Wine Club and our partnership with DOMSOM.us. While some Texas may believe it’s a country of its own, Texas is one of the top 4 wine consumption and production states in the good ole U.S. of A! It’s a perfect partnership!

If you haven’t tried Texas wines lately, what’s stopping you? Send me a note or simply visit us online at https://txwine.com/ and let’s schedule your experience today!

Cheers!
